Scott Sterling served in the U.S. Army Special Operations from 1990 – 2001. After completing basic training, Scott was assigned to 1st Ranger Battalion. In spite of the grueling Ranger School training, Scott set his sites on the next challenge. He was assigned as a Reconnaissance Specialist in the 75th Ranger (RRD). After that, he became a Combat Dive Supervisor and a HALO Jumpmaster and while serving in a W9 billet. He went on to complete Delta Force Selection and the yearlong Operator Training Course before being assigned to A Squadron.
Following his service, Scott had a successful civilian career developing world-class equipment for the next generation of soldiers serving in the military. After a diagnosis of colorectal cancer, Scott became passionate about GI cancer screening for his family and the special operations community. Never complacent, Scott lived by the motto, Get busy living…or get busy dying.
In 2022, Christina Sterling founded the Sterling Promise Foundation to honor her husband’s rich legacy. Sterling Promise Foundation’s first objective is to ensure that Special Ops veterans are adequately screened for serious medical conditions. For SOF Week 2024, On Your 6 introduced the Scott Sterling Commemorative Bourbon bottle and this limited release hat to honor our friend and support the important work of the Sterling Promise Foundation.
